Research & Innovation

The Research and Innovation programme funds university-based research groups and academic institutions working on technologies, methods and theories that ensure humanity is able to live within the Earth’s planetary boundary related to climate change.

The grants, available from 2025, are not discipline-specific or limited to science and technology, instead prioritising impactful, real-world research across any domain. Potential applicants are identified and vetted by Board Member and Programme Expert Poul Toft Frederiksen and the research specialist committee.

“We will be looking for research groups and funders with a clear road to impact, and providing funds to areas that may be currently under-funded. Our committee will consider innovative research from across multiple fields, as the solutions we need to tackle the climate crisis are inherently interdisciplinary.”

Poul Toft Frederiksen

We are not currently reviewing applications for this programme. Applications will be open during 2024 and research institutions, universities and think-tanks will be selected by the Programme Expert and invited to apply.
