A valued partnership concludes: Celebrating BRAC as Askehave’s first humanitarian partner
As Askehave Climate Foundation’s first humanitarian partnership with BRAC comes to a close, we want to mark the collaboration and thank BRAC for its work. The partnership has supported practical climate action for communities in Bangladesh and the Philippines that are already affected by floods, storms, saltwater intrusion, and other climate-related challenges.
We appreciate that BRAC was Askehave’s first humanitarian partner under the Humanitarian Response programme. Between 2023 and 2026, the partnership supported BRAC’s work with climate-vulnerable communities and combined Askehave’s funding with BRAC’s local presence, operational experience, and community-led approach.
The final year of the partnership included several concrete results. In the Philippines, 605 farming households received seeds, tools, and training to help protect their livelihoods against future floods. In Bangladesh’s Satkhira District, 15 cyclone shelters were reinforced and reverse osmosis plants were installed, improving access to safe drinking water for more than 600 households affected by saltwater intrusion. The final year also included emergency drills and preparedness activities with community volunteers.
BRAC described the partnership as follows:
“The Askehave Climate Foundation’s support has been crucial in enabling BRAC to strengthen communities’ resilience to climate-induced shocks. This partnership has helped reduce the devastating impacts of climate threats on vulnerable communities in Bangladesh and the Philippines, where BRAC works alongside those on the frontlines of the climate crisis.” — Gulru Dodkhudoeva, Deputy Executive Director, BRAC Europe
As the partnership concludes, we are grateful to BRAC for being Askehave Climate Foundation’s first humanitarian partner. The collaboration has given Askehave valuable experience in supporting humanitarian climate action through an experienced local partner, and we look forward to building on this work in future partnerships.
